  1. Title:
    Save Me A Seat

    Author:
    Sarah Weeks and Git Varadarajan

    Genre:
    Realistic Fiction

    Number of Pages:
    216

    Main Characters:
    Ravi and Joe

    Settings:
School classroom, cafeteria, and New Jersey

    Summary:
In this book Ravi moved from the other side of the country to New Jersey. His dream is to be a cool kid, but it doesn’t quite work out that way. The coolest kid in the school or fifth grade is Dillion and he seems cool at first, but it all turns around very quickly. Once Dillon threw the ball at Ravi and told him to sat that it was an accident to the nurse, Joe knew that Ravi would get the best (worst part) of Dillon. After Ravi had been in the nurses office for an hour and it was now lunch. He did not bring his lunch. Ravi is vegetarian and the school was having chili that day. Ravi was about to sit with Joe, but the saw an open spot by Dillon and took it. Since Dillon is not the nicest person he made Ravi eat the chili and that day forward Ravi never sat with Dillon again.
The next day at lunch Tavi sat with Joe hoping nothing bad would happen. But what Ravi did not know was that Dillon picked on him to. Since, Joe’s mom worked at the school Dillon said that he was a baby. That day at the lunch Dillon picked on Ravi and Joe. The next day was show and tell and Ravi brought leeches into school and Joe unscrewed the cover after Ravi had finished presenting and left a note saying do not touch those. After that class they had P.E. and Dillon had to “go to the bathroom” it turned out that he just got into the leeches and spilled and got in trouble. From that day on Ravi and Joe were best friends and Dillon never bothered them again.

    Review:
I sort of liked this book, because it was interesting, but at the same time it did not have enough description. I think that it if the book had more detail it would be more interesting. I would recommend this book to anybody who likes to read books about kids who once did not like each other or know each other and then do. I would also recommend it to them, because if you like to learn about or read about friends getting together and then beating the bully, then you should read this book.

Its also is interesting to people that like the Percy Jackson series because it is a lot like it like the same author and gods and it even mentions the Greek gods and goddesses in the Percy Jackson series.

    Author: Wendy Mass
    Genre: free choice
    Pages: 267
Main characters: Amanda, Leo, Mom, Dad, Stephanie, Kyle, Angelina D’Angelo.
    Setting: Willow Falls

    Summary:
Amanda Ellerby is having her 11th birthday today, the first time she has spent her birthday alone without her best friend, Leo. They got in a fight last year and haven't spoken since.
Amanda’s birthday was horrible! Her mom got fired, almost no one came to her party, and she never opened her presents! But the next day all her books she had left at school were home, and she was wearing her P.J.s from the day before.
    “That's weird.” (page 58)
Suddenly, she realized that it was still her birthday, it was still Friday, and her mom still had her job. What's going on? Why is she reliving “yesterday”? Well turns out it is happening to Leo, too! And it keeps happening, day after day, night after night. They soon realized that they get do overs everyday! NO CONSEQUENCES.
They skip school, go to the mall, jump out a window, go to a drum audition, and become friends again! It never gets old, but they wonder why it keeps happening. And well, IT HAPPENS 11 TIMES. After searching for “days”, they find why it is happening… the weird women next door cast an enchantment on them! Apparently it was supposed to make them stop fighting and come together. And one day they toasted their friendship and the enchantment wore off. I guess that they would never fight again now would they. The theme of the story is that fighting isn't worth it and friends are forever.

    Genre: realistic fiction
Main Characters: Donovan, Chloe, Dr. Shultz, Katie (Donovan's sister), Abigail

This book is basically about a boy named Donovan Curtis who makes VERY bad mistakes. His biggest mistake is hitting a bronze statue of Atlas holding up a bronze globe. He decides to take a giant stick and whack the statue. Little does Donovan know that the globe is a separate piece of bronze attached only by one bolt. The bolt breaks and the globe goes hurtling towards the parking lot filled with cars parked while the championship basketball game was going on in the gym. The globe bounced off the curb and speeds towards the gym. Donovan and his two friends watch in horror, or let me rephrase that. Donovan watches in horror ( his friends are long gone) as the globe smashes through the glass doors and into the middle of the basketball game. This event winds Donovan up in the Superintendent’s office. The Superintendent (Dr. Shultz) desk is a mess and winds up writing Donovan's name on the list for the Academy of Scholastic Distinction. His family gets a letter saying that Donovan is gifted. He starts at the academy and fails to keep his grades up, though he makes great friends. He realizes that what he’s doing at the academy is hiding

    Recommendation

I recommend this book for anyone who likes a good laugh and the true meaning of mischief. I think any gender would enjoy this, and mostly middle schoolers would appreciate it the most.

In an attempt to prove them wrong, that he does deserve a job Will sneaks into the castle where he is captured by one of the scariest trainers, Halt the ranger.
Just like that Will became a ranger. Rangers were always hiding in plain sight under their cloaks. As he worked his way up the ladder with Halt gaining more and more respect he has to go on a mission. Not just any mission, one against the killing machines the Kalkara. Halt and his team were on the brink of death when Will fires an arrow and then, you'll have to read the story. I think the theme of the story is you can go from nobody to a hero wither hard work and determination.

  8. Book Title: After Ever After
    Author: Jordan Sonnenblick
    Number of Pages: 260
    Genre: Realistic Fiction
Main Characters: Jeffrey, Steven (Jeffrey's brother), Jeffrey and Steven’s parents, Lindsey (Jeff’s girlfriend), and Tad (Jeff’s best friend).
    Setting: California

Summary: Thirteen year old kid named Jeffrey has recovered from cancer and is now a teen in remission. Jeffrey is still worried that his cancer will return and he has to wrestle with normal teen stuff, such as friends, parents, girls, school, and the end of the year math exam. Normally he would ask his older brother, Steven for advice, but he's away in Africa with a drumming circle trying to find “himself.” Jeff’s best friend Tad has a crazy plan to walk across the stage at eighth grade graduation because he's crippled. There's a new, super hot girl in the school named Lindsey Abraham who Jeffrey likes and Lindsey thinks that Jeff’s cute…. which makes him go berserk. There are some new things in life that cancer has not prepared Jeffrey for, and he needs to grapple with the truth and new challenges and experiences that life throws at him. Like when Jeff's best friend died at 10:32 am while Jeff was halfway done with biking a marathon.
This book shows some of the hardest, best, wonderful, exciting, and sad moments that life can give you. The theme of the book is that you need to get off your butt and start living life the way you want to, and try your best to bust through walls of despair that life will put up to stop you from making your goals.

Your Review (How did you like the book, and why? What was your favorite part? What did you like the most/the least about this book? Who would you recommend it to, and why?)

I loved the book because it's about a middle school teenager who has to grabbed with life and school’s new challenges like I have to in my life as a teenager as well.
My favorite part in the book is when Tad is trying to convince Jeff to be optimistic when Tad goes away for a bone marrow transplant because his cancer is back and there's a very low risk of surviving cancer again.
“Oh, good lord, Jeff. Don't go getting all emotional on me. I've been getting it from my mom, my dad, my sister, the freakin mailman - I don't need it from you, too. All I ask is that you promise me one thing.”
    “What?”
“Just water the plants for me while I'm gone, all right?”
“You don't have any plants, Tad.”
“I know. I just always wanted to say that.” Page:239
What I liked least about the book was that Jeffrey's best friend Tad died. I would recommend this book to people who are 12 and 13 years old because it really shows what struggles of middle school to young teens.

    Book blog by:
    Aiden Seiders

    Genre: Realistic fiction
    Main character: Brian
    # of pages: 191

    ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________

    Summary/review

The book focuses on a boy named Brian Robeson, he is thirteen and

his parents have split thus making Brian go to visit his father. Once he

is allowed to fly the plane, the pilot has a heart attack and the plane

drops at rapid altitudes. They crash and Brian is the only survivor. Brian

later on gets kills like the first rabbit, or the time the moose attacked

him, injuring his shoulder and ribs. Brian is the perfect character for the

book, he's tough and he is a alpha male who is very strong is lots of

areas. But it ended with him getting saved, we expected that but the

pilot it just showing up and saving him doesn't really give us the

satisfaction of what the reader has been wanting. And especially since

he has been through all of that, it may just be me but I was not satisfied

with the ending. But just like when the tornado washed threw, it got you

wondering,“Brian, what will you do now, you seem to be in quite the

predicament!” And he always finds a way to live, or that's just the how

he's the main character and he won't die but who cares! I enjoyed the

book because of the fact that it's a survival and has that feel to it. But

my favorite part was the moose and how Brian still stayed strong and

persevered, that was invigorating because yes I knew he wisest going

to die but it still was crazy. I thought the twister was a little off putting

due to how close to the water he was, I didn't feel that it was the right

thing to do due to how a twister would not form there. I would

recommend anybody who enjoys the outdoors.

Katahdin with his father, his two brothers, Tom and Ryan and 2 friends, Henry Codon and Fred Eaton. After a while, Donn straggled behind and the fog was too thick to see the others. He screamed and screamed but nobody answered. Then he started to find his own way back to camp, but he kept going in circles. Day began to turn into night so he went to a large tree he saw when he was walking in circles. It was hard for him to sleep because the mosquitos were biting him. Days passed and Donn saw a Bear. He said in the book I couldn't run. I couldn't yell. I couldn't do anything. A couple hours after he saw the Bear he went to take a drink and his pants got so wet they fell off! A day after that he found a cabin. In that cabin the only useful thing he found was a blanket. After a day he went to take a drink and passed out. He passed out in the water so he got tons of Leechs. Then he passed out again on the ground. The Leeches didn't like the sun so they fell off of Donn. Two days later Donn found a house and he screamed so they would know he was there. Sure enough the people saw him and rushed him to their couch and called 911 and his parents. Donn was sent to a hospital and was fixed.

    Genre:Realistic Fiction

    Main characters:Nick Waters,Marta Gonzalez,Bunny Starch,Greg Waters,Drake McBride,and Detective Marshall

Setting:Black Vine Swamp and Truman Middle School
    (They are both in Florida)

    Summary
Scat is a book about a lady named bunny starch who went missing. She went missing on a field trip with her class to Black Vine Swamp. She went missing after she went back in the swamp to get one of her students inhaler while a “wildfire” was going. But it was really arson. Pronounced (Ar-son).
In the beginning of the book nick and Marta's teacher Mrs.starch calls on a student who is late and not trustworthy and he hasn't read what he was supposed to. So she makes him write a paper about zits. He then chomps off half of her pencil and eats it. In the middle of the book Mrs.starch goes missing when her class goes to black vine swamp for a field trip. In the end of the book Red Diamond Energy Corporation is found to be in section 22 which is illegal and they also caused the arson on the field trip so that the class would have to leave early. Also they did this because they didn't want to have one of the kids wandering off into section 22 and blabbing about the drilling there.

    Review
I liked this book because it was really mysterious and it made me wonder what was going to happen next. My favorite part of this book was when Nick was climbing the tree to give squirt the baby panther to its mom. I liked this because it was very descriptive. I wanted to know what was going to happen to Nick and if he would fall. What I didn't like about this book was that the author made nick's dad get hurt. I would recommend this book to anybody who likes mystery books. I would recommend this because it is all about a teacher who disappeared on a field trip with her class and nobody knows why.

  12. Philippa Fisher’s Fairy Godsister
    by: Ella
    Pages: 272
    Author: Liz Kessler Genre: Fantasy
Main Characters: Philippa, Daisy, Trisha, Charlotte
Setting: Philippa’s house and Philippa's school

Summary: The theme is that you don't need to be fake to have friends and be happy. Philippa makes two wishes that she realizes she doesn’t need and she wishes to undo all her wishes. Philippa finds a daisy and thinks that it will turn into a fairy at midnight. Charlotte is moving,so Philippa is miserable. On the day Charlotte moves Philippa tells Charlotte. One problem, her best friend Charlotte doesn't believe her at all. Charlotte says, “ Come on, Philippa, you know it can't be real. It's not logical; it's not scientific. It's the kind of thing that we used to make up years ago, maybe. No one believes in fairies anymore!(35) I chose this quote because it shows that Charlotte doesn’t believe Philippa and that makes Philippa very sad.

The next day at school there is a new girl in Philippa’s class. Her name is Daisy. It turns out she is Philippa’s fairy godsister. Daisy gives Philippa 3 wish vouchers. But when Philippa uses two of them, she makes wishes that she regrets. For her first wish, she wishes for “regular” parents. Then she realizes that she didn't like them that much. For her second wish she wishes to be popular. Then she realizes that being popular isn't all that great. But with her third wish she wishes to undo all her other wishes.

Review: I really enjoyed this book. I enjoyed it because Philippa learns that she doesn't need to have “regular” parents or to be popular to be happy. I also liked it because Daisy gets a sense of compassion. The thing that I liked the least about the book was the way Daisy acted towards Philippa in the beginning of the book. I recommend this book to any fifth or sixth grader who enjoys reading about fairies

You know we can’t do that.’’ so , albus and scorpius go to an nursing home for witches and wizards. There they meet Delphie. Delphie is Amos’s nieces. Amos does not want them to help, but they go behind him and their parents back to do so.

so , they steal the time turner and go back in time to the first task. Successfully, they temporarily destroy Cedrics wand, there for he can't win using magic. When they get back, Albus’s friend, Rose, does not exist. The reason for that is Ron married a different person. [Ron and Hermione are married and have Rose.]
Then they go back a second time, and when they come back, Albus is gone! It is weird, because Scorpius is famous and mean. Then he finds out that Voldemort killed Harry. Then he goes back to try and save Albus, and it works. But then, Delphi reveals that she is Voldemort’s daughter. She sends them back in time and smashes the time turner. Then she disappears. So, Albus and Scorpius make up a plan. See, tarred the beginning of the book, they spill love potion on Harry's old blanket. When it reacts to this thing called tincture of demiguise, they burn. They put it on his blanket, and harry find the note, and they find a time turner at the ministry of magic and comes and tries to save them. They do, and everything is back to normal, but Harry and Albus are closer than ever.

    Review
This book was very confusing. I got a little lost at the beginning, and reading about time travel can be confusing. But when I was not lost, I thought it was interesting and likeable. But it did not seem like a harry potter book because there was so much conflict and there where so many sides. but the end was sweet because they said this,”I think it’s going to be a nice day,’’ Harry said
“So do I,” Albus remarked. I recommend this book to anyone who has read the Harry Potter series or is a Harry Potter fan.

Gunnar ended up giving crusher live food that he calls breakfast and thinks that crusher will kill himself and eat it but nothing works crusher is on a strike. Crusher plans an escape and he might bring his new friend breakfast with him.

    Your Review-
I really like this book and I think that it's really fun and interesting. My favorite part is when Gunnar gives crusher the tour of the house and since the book is from the snakes point of view it's funny what she thinks of a normal human lifestyle. What I like the most about this book is that it's from the snakes point of view. I would recommend this book to any one who likes to have a good laugh while their doing their reading because of the way that this snake thinks about being a pet is halarious by the way he reacts to the things we do for example turning on the water foist or flushing toilets.

  17. Owl Diaries
    Rebecca Elliott
    72
    Fiction
Eva, her best friend Lucky, and her classmates
    At school and at home
Summary: This book is about an owl named Eva who gets an idea to hold a “Bloomtastic Festival” at her school. She tries doing everything herself but she runs out of time and has to ask her friend Lucky and all of her classmates to help. The festival turns out to be a big hit even though some bad things happen.
Ewa learns friendship is key and that asking for help is okay. She also learns that something can turn out to be fun even if it isn't perfect.

Your Review: I really liked this book because it was full of ups and downs. It had exciting moments and droopy moments. For example, on page 60 - 61, Eva was happy because all of her friends loved what she had put together and nobody was being mean. She loved getting praise from her Principal who said, “ We couldn't have had this amazing festival without you.” (p69). A droopy part came on pages 60 - 65 when the cupcake frosting she and Lucky made dripped all over everything. “The frosting melted. And now they looked like gloopy SNOT balls!” (p62).Some other bad things that happened were that someone hung a picture in the art show that Eva did not want there and when she entered the fashion show her dress was tucked into her underpants. Eva also tripped and fell on top of the school’s principal.
My favorite part of the book was when Eva gets an award for planning the best festival her school has ever had and sharing the award with her BFF and the whole class.
I liked that this was a chapter book but still pretty easy to read. The part I liked least was about the mean girl Sue.
I would recommend this book to my cousin Daisy because she likes owls. Her room is full of owl decorations.

    Genre: Realistic Fiction
Theme: Sea and Ocean also Sea Creatures

    Review
I liked the book because of all the fun and awesome things that the author put in the book and I may read this book a couple more times. Also I think that anyone should read this book because of all the sea and ocean type adventure that is in the book.
I think 5-8 graders should read it because every page has a little good in it.
I love this book so I might just buy one book for myself

    Summary
So it's mostly about another story of a kid and yes it's not about a fish that's on the cover but still it's about a company that catch fish or rather save fish you're gonna have to find out when you read the book. I don't want to spoil the end but I'm gonna say it's good and awesome I really think you should read this fishy type book. A couple of the characters are Noah his dad also mom and also his sister Abbey.

There's someone “special” named the Coral Queen I think because of the sea and ocean or rather because of something else. I think the book could be more better with a little more adventure to it and also a little more stuff that happens in the book.
I think I should find another book made by him/her and I'll read it to the end of the whole entire book. I think this book could also have some craziness and also many and many and many other things but this book is still fun to read and I hope you enjoy all the awesomeness that awaits inside the book.

Summary: The Herons leave the castle to go home but they get caught in a massive storm and are blown ashore to a strange island. They find signs of a bear. One night they hear screaming and run to find out what it was. When they got there there were two children up a tree getting scared by a bear. They kill the bear but the kids run off.
