Title: Lost Boy, Lost Girl Escaping the Civil War in Sudan Author: John Bul Dau, Martha Arual Akech, with Michael S. Sweeney, and K.M. Kostyal Genre: Autobiography Number of Pages: 159 Main Characters: John Bul Dau, Martha Arual Akech, and Martha’s sister Tabitha Summary: This book is about two kids who are from different towns that are quite close to each other. They are from two different tribes. They do not know each other. Their names are John and Martha. When one day both of their towns are taken over by soldiers. Martha has to run with her aunt, her sister, and her aunt’s family. John has to flee with no one, but yet he thinks he sees his dad and follows him, but it turns out to be a boy named Abraham. Everyone is traveling to a refugee camp where they will have food and water. Some people die on the way. Martha travels with her aunt and her aunt’s family until… John travels with Abraham and then other boys joined in and they were called the Lost Boys. …. They have to make a choice of what camp they want to go to. ……..Martha’s aunt wanted to go to a separate camp than her because she had her own kids to deal with. Later on in the book they are pushed out of the refugee camp. They move to a new town and the UN help them live by sending planes to help them live. Later on the soldiers caught on and started sending planes with bombs. The bombs were used to bomb the area. Eventually they moved again, but this time to a desert. They lived there for quite a while and then the UN said that the U.S. was excepting some of them to come to the U.S. Martha and her sister signed up. They had to go to meetings, but her temporary family doesn’t know. She has four days until she moves to the U.S. She has to prepare with the rest of the group. The day finally comes and she moves to the U.S. Shortly after, Abraham does too. Then later on they get married and have a kid. Then they visit their families in Sudan. I think that the theme of this book was that not everyone is as fortunate as others and that you should not take your life for granted if it is good.
Review: I liked this book because it tells you how people felt during that time and it is even cooler since the people who experienced it wrote the book. I also liked it because it has a lot of detail. I would recommend this book to someone who has read A Long Walk to Water. I say this because you have some background knowledge on this topic. By this topic I mean the war. I would also reccomend it to them because the stories are pretty much the same.
Edna St. Vincent Millay was born on February 22 1892 in Rockland, Maine to Cora Buzzell Millay and Henry Tollman Millay. She lived through her parents divorcing, being very poor, and moving many times each year. When she was just a young girl she lived with just her two sisters, Norma and Kathleen while her mother was working as a nurse at days on end to provide just enough money, if not enough for the family and bills. Vincent grew up to be an amazing poet. She was very famous and was considered one of the best. She went to high school, though she had trouble obeying the rules, which almost got her suspended. She did have serious health issues, which caused her to almost die a few times, including the time when all three of the sisters got scarlet fever. She never had any children, but did get married to Eugen Boissevain. They lived in a nice farm house which they called Steepletop. Vincent and her sister Norma were very close, but Kathleen drifted apart from Vincent, mostly from jealousy of her success. Kathleen died young from alcoholism. Vincent died at the age of 58.
Recommendation I recommend this book to anyone who really likes poetry. This book is very inspiring too. It inspired me to find something to be happy about even when things are hard. Some parts in this book are quite funny. I think this book is probably for kids because some parts are a little complicated to understand.
Theme The main idea in this book is all of the accomplishments Vincent made, and the things she went through, from her birth to when she died. It tells about her relationships with her family and her friends. I really got the message to keep moving forward from this book.
I got it for my birthday and never read it, so I thought I would take advantage of the time to read it! (I probably wouldn't have made time for it otherwise.)
Summary In the beginning of this book the author talks about the war between Northern Virginia and the Union. Also it talks about how Booth was mad about the surrender of Northern Virginia. In the middle it talks about how Booth and his men were planning the assassinations and then Booth kills Lincoln. In the end of the book Booth was found by the army and they lit the barn that he was in on fire. Booth decided that it was better to die here than in front of the public: “Booth decided it was better to die than be taken back to Washington to face justice. He did not wish to bear the spectacle of trial that would put him on public display for the amusement of the press and curiosity seekers. Nor did he wish to endure the rituals of hanging: being bound and blindfolded, parading past his own coffin and open grave, climbing the steps of the scaffold. The shameful death of a common criminal was not for him. It was far better to perish here.” Page:171 Booth rose his gun from his pocket and Boston Corbett thought he was going to shoot so Boston raised his pistol through a crack in the wall and shot. Booth died. Review I liked this book because it taught me more about the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. All I really knew before I read this book was that Lincoln was killed at a theater. This book helped me fully understand what happened on the date of Friday, april 14,1865. It was very easy to understand. Example: “Once Harry Hawk was alone on stage, Booth opened the door and stepped into the president's box. Hawk began reciting the last sentence Lincoln would ever hear, a series of corny insults that delighted the audience.” Page 39 My favorite part was throughout Booth’s get away. From Ford's Theater to Navy Yard Bridge to Sopers Hill to Surrattsville to Beantown to Mudd Farm to Bryantown to Swann Cabin to William Burtles to Pine Thicket to Jones Farm to Dent’s Meadow to Hughes Farm to Quesenberry Home to Stuart Home to Lucas Cabin to Port Conway to Port Royal to Garrett Farm. I didn't like that the book had to explain all the bloody parts. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn more about the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. I would do this because it is very descriptive and teaches you about all the little details.
Title: The Children's Dinosaur Encyclopedia Book blog By: Gavin White Book: The Children's Dinosaur Encyclopedia Author: Professor Michael J. Benton Number of pages: 96 Genre: Informational Setting: All around the world Italicized: Quote Summary: In The Children's Dinosaur Encyclopedia it tells you so much about so many dinosaurs. Every page has a topic, like crocodiles. It has about 7 different kinds of whatever the topic is and a paragraph about each one. For example, the topic may be Ostrich dinosaurs. I will pick the Therizinosaurus and give you a paragraph about it. “The few fossils that have been found so far of Therizinosaurus show a creature with arms bearing huge sickle-shaped claws more than 27 inches (70 cm) long. The dinosaur may have used these claws to gather leaves and pass them to its toothless beak.”(Pg. 53) I like how the author did the format because it makes it more fun to read when it's spaced out. The main idea the author is trying to teach us is to learn more about the rarer dinosaurs because it has so many dinosaurs that I didn't even know about. For example the Massospondylus which was a sauropod. The theme is facts about lots of dinosaurs.
Review: How did you like the book, and why? I liked it because it taught me more facts about dinosaurs that I already knew. For example, “The Tyrannosaurus- Rex was up to 20 feet (6 m) tall and weighing more than an African elephant.”(Pg. 55)
What was your favorite part? My favorite part was when they would have the pictures of the dinosaurs so you know what they look like.
What did you like the most/the least about this book? What I liked the most about the book is the boxes for each dinosaur which says what their size is (feet, meters, or centimeters), their order (family), their range (where they were found), their pronunciation, and what period they were from. The thing I didn't like about the book was that some of the pictures looked plain and some looked to colorful.
Who would you recommend it to, and why? My brother Patrick because he loves dinosaurs and he has a lot of books about dinosaurs. Also he knows so much about them.
Summary My book is about Steve Jobs. In this book I learned Steve was the creator of Apple. He was adopted. He had always loved machines and helped his dad a lot. His parents were named Paul and Clara Jobs. Steve Jobs was born on February 24,1955. He lived in Mountain View, California. People called Mountain View, California Valley of Heart’s Delight or Silicon Valley. In May, 1985 Steve Jobs got fired from Apple. He made a new company called NEXT. The logo of NEXT cost one hundred thousand dollars. In 1986 his mom died. Steve got married to a lovely woman called Laurene. They had a baby girl on September 1991. Their baby's name was Reed College. Steve went back to Apple in 1993. Steve Jobs died on October 5,2011.
Review I loved this book so much and I would recommend this book to Brett. He would love this book because he loves Apple devices. My favorite part is when he becomes a billionaire on PG 62. I liked when Steve gets married. What I don't like is when he gets fired from Apple
Book title: Sparky Author: Beverly Gherman Number of pages:115 Genre: Biography Main character(s):Charles Schulz / Sparky Setting: Minnesota, California Summary- The theme of this story is about the life of Charles Schulz. I can tell because he is the main character and every page is about an important part of his life. One example is “The Life and Art of Charles Schulz” Front cover, this shows what the story is about. Another example is “; it was time to decide what he should do with his life.” p.g.#45, I think this shows that the book is about what he did with his life and that’s an important part of the book because it is just coming time that he needs to do something with his life. Lastly “ Sparky used events from his life in his cartoon strips.”p.g.#99, I think that this is important because it is another thing about sparky that is unique.
Review- I liked this book because it is about the cartoonist that created the peanuts. My favorite part was when Sparky was just done with is surgery and he drew snoopy on the hospital wall for the people who have that same room that he was in. what I liked the most about this book was that it shows and doesn't tell. I would recommend this to anyone who likes graphic novels, Charlie Brown, or Snoopy because this book is about a man who dreamed of being a cartoonist and made his way the top by making newspaper cartoon strips, which are graphic stories. Also because he is the creator of the legendary Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy and all of the other cartoon characters.
Title: Ten Rings. Ethan Author: Yogi Berra Pages: 212 Genre: Informational Recommendation: I recommend it to people that like baseball, especially Yankees fans. Yogi had strange sayings called Yogisms such as “ When you come to a fork in the road take it.” The theme of this book is confidence and perseverance even when your 2 best starters are hurt. Summary: Yogi Berra grew up in a poor family in southwest St. Louis. His father did not want him to pursue his baseball career, but his mom gave him some money and told him to go. He was drafted by the yankees. This is where he began his career. He went on to win TEN World series wins. He retired in 1963. The next year he was asked if he wanted to manage and he accepted. Sadly he died 43 years later on September 22 2015.
Bloody times Genre: Non-fiction Pages: 160 Main characters: Abraham Lincoln, Jefferson Davis Settings: Ford's theatre, Petersen house, Lincoln's funeral Train Author: James L. Swanson Summary Bloody times Is a story about Abraham Lincoln's assassination and the hunt for Jefferson Davis. The whole story is about the civil war and the many events that took place like the Gettysburg address and John Wilkes boothe assassinating Abe Lincoln. The book also tells you about when The Confederate president is fleeing his state and Is on the run from union soldiers. I think the theme is to get you to be more interested in the civil war.
When the Union soldiers find the Confederacy president in some women's clothing that could be worn by men, but they still mock him by saying he was found wearing a dress and they make comics of him wearing a dress.
Title: The Real Spy’s Guide to Becoming a Spy Author: Pete Earnest and Suzanne Harper Genre: Informational Pages: 136
Summary: The Real Spy’s Guide to Becoming a spy is book that teaches you all about spies. If you were to read this book you would learn things like what the different types of spies are. You will also learn how spies speak, get out of trouble, and lots more. This book will help you separate the myths from the truths and learn all the basics of spying. The purpose of this book is to teach us about becoming a spy and what spies do.
Review: I think this book was okay, I really liked parts like when it described some of the gadgets used when being a spy and when it mentioned some of the actual missions that spies went on. In my opinion, some parts could get a little boring, like when it talks about the different types of intelligence officers and how there are lots of spies that can just sit at desks all day. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in spies or becoming a spy.
Anne Frank The diary of a young girl Pages: 312 Author: Anne Frank Genre: Informational Setting: Frankfurt Germany Main characters: Anne Frank, Adolf Hitler, Otto Frank, Margot Frank, and Edith Frank
Summary Anne Frank was 13 years old when she had gotten her diary “kitty” she loved it with all her heart. When she was older her dream was to have her diary published. Anne wrote in it everyday. Sadly Anne had died at the age of 15 in a conservation camp. Her family died shortly after. Except for her dad, her dad had found her diary and made her dream come true. Anne's diary is now published and everyone can now read about her experiences. Like when she went into hiding for two years or when she had to go to a conservation camp.
Review I recommend this book for ages 11 and up. I think that because Anne was going through hard times and some of it is can be really sad. It's also a really long book. I think that the moral of this story is that to appreciate what you have in life like your house, family, friends, and school. I think that the purpose of this book was to teach us about the holocaust and what it was like for some people.

Review: I think that this book was good and that it was veary Informidable and was quite easy to read and understand.
Book Title: How Angel Peterson got his Name Author: Gary Paulsen
Summary: When Gary was a young teenager in the 1950’s there wasn't any videogames, internet, or a lot of what we had today. And the things that he had as a kid that we have today are much more advanced now. Since Gary and his pals did not have all our technology when he was thirteen, so, they had to find other ways to entertain themselves. This meant shooting a waterfall in a barrel, breaking the world record on skis, hang gliding with an army surplus target kite, inventing the skateboard, jumping a bike through a hoop of fire, and wrestling a bear. They did all this because they lived in a small town in northern Minnesota without any real excitement going on around them, also they wanted to show off for girls and explore how far they could stretch their stupidity limit and not die trying. They do so many crazy and wacky stuff in their childhood that leads to great joy.
Your Review (How did you like the book, and why? What was your favorite part? What did you like the most/the least about this book? Who would you recommend it to, and why?) I loved the book because Gary and his friends are all around thirteen and fourteen like me and they did so many crazy, stupid stunts that they made me want to do. My favorite part of the book was after Orvis tried wrestling a bear named Bruno and tried to impress some girls and also win twenty five dollars. “That was great-you were great!” the girls said, surrounding him, and they smiled and ed and they were laughing with and not at him but it didn't matter. He didn't say a word couldn't say a word, and they walked off shaking their heads and Bruno, I swear, put out a paw and gently ruffled the hair on Orivis’s head. “Nice girls,” the trainer said, but Orvis was just staring down at the floor, his head wobbling only a little as he tried to focus on his feet. Then he looked up at me and in a plaintive little puppy dog voice he asked: “Wasn't I wearing shoes when we came?” I liked the overall being a teenager part of the story because as a teenager you start caring about different things such as how you look, how fit you are, and deeper emotions than you would have felt or cared about when you were younger. I would recommend this book to anyone in sixth to eighth grade because the characters in the book are around that age and I also think that sixth through eighth graders would understand the book better than younger kids would because of the maturity of the characters in the book. I loved the book because of the crazy awesome things that Gary and his friends pulled off at being just the same age as me. But out of all the crazy things they did, I think wrestling with a bear for twenty-five dollars was my favorite part of the book, especially after wrestling with it. “The trainer and I pulled Orvis onto a stool in the corner and wiped the dust out of his eyes and the trainer gave him a towel to use to clean himself up a little. Orvis looked as if he'd been pulled through a knothole backward. Then the trainer got out some bandages and we started covering the scrapes and minor cuts from hitting various things around the ring, like the floor, and the corner posts, and the floor, and again the floor. Then the trainer gave Orvis two tens and a five dollar bill and right then the girls came up to him.
“Wasn't I wearing shoes when we came?” Pages: 94 and 95.
Kaleb, I would recommend this book to boys who are twelve and thirteen years old because it has mature content and teenage life problems that younger kids wouldn't really understand as much. And I also recommend it to boys twelve and thirteen especially because in the book it says that it’s for boys who are thirteen.
“This book is dedicated to all boys in their thirteenth year: the miracle is that we live through it.” Page#: no number.
Characters: John and Jackie Kennedy, Lee Harvey Oswald, Coraline, Patric, John Jr.
Setting: Dallas, TX
John F. Kennedy was born in Brookline, MA on may 29, 1917. He had nine brothers. He grew up as the second oldest child in his home. He served in the pacific theater, fighting against the Japanese. In September 1953, he married a 24 year old woman named Jacqueline Lee Bouvier. On November 8, 1960, he was elected president of the United States ( but he would not become the true president and have full power until 1961 on January 20.) On that very date, he delivered his inauguration: ” let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or I'll, that we should pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, to usure the survival and the success of liberty.” Pg 16
With a large family of his wife, Jackie, and his three children, John Jr, Coralline and Patric, John F. Kennedy became the president of the United States. In his years of presidency, many things were successful. For example, in 1961, Kennedy believed that they could put a man on the moon, and they did. But other things, like the Cuban missile crisis, did not go very well. Kennedy was planning on going to Dallas, TX to deliver a speech On Thursday, November 21. A man 13 hundred miles away was more eager for him to show up then Kennedy would himself. The man's name was Lee Harvey Oswald. Born on october 18, 1939, he had skipped most school in his life. He had also been kicked out of the marine corps. There was only one thing that lee had on his mind, to kill Kennedy. After seeing a article in the paper, he plotted to shoot the president with his rifle. This was not the first time he tried to kill a man. He had also attempted to kill former U.S Army General Edwin Walker. At 12:30 pm, on the 22nd of November, John Fitzgerald Kennedy was murdered by lee Harvey Oswald outside a book depository. On his hassal to escape the nation, Lee killed a police officer named J.B. Tppet. But was spotted and then put into custody. 2 days later, Lee Oswald was killed by a man named Jack Ruby.
Review: I thought the book was full of many, many facts. I learned so many things that I never would have thought were true. I also made me very sad for Jackie, when he was killed wright beside her. It made me feel very very sad for her loss. Especially when she said this on page 145 when they asked if she wanted to change into new clothes because they were covered in blood:” No, I want them to see what the have done to jack.” I wanted to share that because I wanted to show you how she felt. I also thought that it was very well written. The author snuck facts into sentences in a snap. It was definitely a book for anyone.
Title:The Barmy British Empire Author:Terry Deary Pages:127 Genre:Informational Main Characters:British men Setting: Asia, Africa, North America
Summary: A theme in the book is slavery. In the beginning of the book there is a timeline. It shows the way the British progressed. It goes from 1562 - 1899. After that, the book talks about the early empire. It says that they went to America and traded things that they were short of in America for things they were short of in Britain. Then it talks about slavery. The British did not treat the slaves good. Sometimes the slavers picked slaves that looked too ill to travel. If they died they didn’t even get buried with their name, they got a number! Then there is a quiz from Queen Victoria who was also ruler of the Eastern Empire. 1 of the questions was “ In Burma the babies take a suck of their mother’s milk and then suck on a cigar. Is this true? Or is this false?”(46) I chose this quote because it shows one of the question one of the terrible questions about what the British did.The bad thing about that is that it’s true. That is what happens in the first 5 chapterters.
Then it talks about the Aborigines that live on Tasmania. Britain sent their convicts to Tasmania. They were called ‘bushrangers’. “ One bushranger, known as Carrots, killed an Aborigine man. Then he seized the dead man’s wife. He cut off the man’s head and fastened it around the wife’s neck. Then he drove the weeping woman off to his den to be his slave .” (55) I chose this quote because it shows just how horrible the bushrangers are. Then it talks about the animals that the Brits killed and even exterminated. They went after elephants for a while. The Brits used the elephants ivory tusks for knife handles, combs, piano keys, chess pieces, billiard balls, crucifixes and false teeth. “ Some tusks were so large that they were used as door posts in houses.” (67) I chose this quote because it shows shush how large the elephants and their tusks are. With hippos, they killed them for fun. They also killed them for food. Robert Baden-Powell’s men had a feast. First they cut a square hole in the hippos side, just big enough to fit a man’s hand in side. One man reached in and took out liver, heart, etc, which he hands to his friends. By nightfall about 100 natives gathered around the carcass and were given raw lumps of meat, which made them very happy. Then it talks about the gruesome games and sports they played. One was hog-hunting. Another is hyena-hunting. Then it talks about Dr Livingstone, Henry Stanley and the horrible things Henry Stanley did. Then it talks about the nasty things that the natives did. Then it says that the British were bad and why they were bad. That is what happened in the last 5 chapters.
Review: I loved this book very much. I loved this book because some parts were funny and some parts were surprising. But sometimes I thought the British were just plain old gruesome. I don’t really have a favorite part. I liked all of it. The thing I liked the most about the book was the comics. But I do not have a favorite one. I recommend this to any third, fourth or fifth grader who would like to read about the British history and the wrong they did. I would also recommend it to them because of how short the book is.

All the days have moments like the first day to the tenth day. Then it shows what day your reading by making the numbers darker so it shows what day you are on. There is only 10 days so it is kinda short but it is sad but it is a good book to read and i hope you will have fun reading the book and adventuring the ten days that changed the world and also him.
Review- I liked this book because it was nice, scary, frightful, happy, and sad, I like how it goes from good to bad to good again. My favorite part had to be when they start to hide in the Secret Anexx because I thought that it was mysterious and kind of fun. My least favorite part was when the people got tricked into going into the gas chamber to get killed. 42 Author: Aaron Rosenberg Pages: 153 Genre: non fiction Maine charters: Jackie, Clyde,Branch Rickey Setting: Rickey's office in Brooklyn Summary This book was about one of the best baseball players of all time. Not just he was good also he was was the first negro major league baseball player. The sad thing of being the first Major League Baseball player is he took a lot of abuse from the other players and fans of the teams. He got beat up by his teammates too. The part I did not like is when they hit Jackie with baseball bats and knocked him out. This book amazed me how racist people were back then. They were so mean to people just because they had a different colar skin. When I think about in the 20 sentery so many African Americans playing baseball now. Remember this: the only reason they are playing is because of one of my favorite baseball players of all time the famous Jackie Robinson.
Review: I liked this book a lot it had a lot of interesting and scary and bad things happen. I liked all that stuff because it made the book way more interesting. The reason I picked this book is because one of the main characters in the beginning is Clyde Sukeforth. The reason why he's my favorite character is he is my great great grandfather. He also was the person who went to Kansas to find Jackie and get him to join the Brooklyn Dodgers. My favorite part in this book is probably when people actually start treating Jackie like a real MLB player. The reason I did not like this book was how they treated Jackie. I can't believe they did all that stuff to him even though he is black.

Review:
I liked this book because it tells you how people felt during that time and it is even cooler since the people who experienced it wrote the book. I also liked it because it has a lot of detail. I would recommend this book to someone who has read A Long Walk to Water. I say this because you have some background knowledge on this topic. By this topic I mean the war. I would also reccomend it to them because the stories are pretty much the same.

DeleteA Girl Called Vincent
ReplyDeleteBy: Sage Kosky
Author: Krystyna Poray Goddu
Pages: 176
Main Character(s): Edna St. Vincent Millay
Genre: Nonfiction
Summary
Recommendation
I recommend this book to anyone who really likes poetry. This book is very inspiring too. It inspired me to find something to be happy about even when things are hard. Some parts in this book are quite funny. I think this book is probably for kids because some parts are a little complicated to understand.
Theme
The main idea in this book is all of the accomplishments Vincent made, and the things she went through, from her birth to when she died. It tells about her relationships with her family and her friends. I really got the message to keep moving forward from this book.

DeleteSummary
ReplyDeleteIn the beginning of this book the author talks about the war between Northern Virginia and the Union.
It was far better to perish here.” Page:171
Booth rose his gun from his pocket and Boston Corbett thought he was going to shoot so Boston raised his pistol through a crack in the wall and shot. Booth died.
Review
I liked this book because it taught me more about the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. All I really knew before I read this book was that Lincoln was killed at a theater. This book helped me fully understand what happened on the date of Friday, april 14,1865. It was very easy to understand. Example: “Once Harry Hawk was alone on stage, Booth opened the door and stepped into the president's box. Hawk began reciting the last sentence Lincoln would ever hear, a series of corny insults that delighted the audience.” Page 39
My favorite part was throughout Booth’s get away.
Abraham Lincolns assassination was very sad! I wish I had thought of doing that book for my book blog.
DeleteYes it was very interesting! But it took a longtime to read it! But it was worth it. But I didn't like the bloody parts!!

ReplyDeleteEncyclopedia
Book blog By: Gavin White
Book: The Children's Dinosaur Encyclopedia
Author: Professor Michael J. Benton
Number of pages: 96
Genre: Informational
Setting: All around the world
Italicized: Quote
Summary:
In The Children's Dinosaur Encyclopedia it tells you so much about so many dinosaurs. 53)
I like how the author did the format because it makes it more fun to read when it's spaced out. The main idea the author is trying to teach us is to learn more about the rarer dinosaurs because it has so many dinosaurs that I didn't even know about. For example the Massospondylus which was a sauropod. The theme is facts about lots of dinosaurs.
Review:
How did you like the book, and why? I liked it because it taught me more facts about dinosaurs that I already knew. For example, “The Tyrannosaurus- Rex was up to 20 feet (6 m) tall and weighing more than an African elephant.”(Pg. 55)
What was your favorite part? My favorite part was when they would have the pictures of the dinosaurs so you know what they look like.
What did you like the most/the least about this book? What I liked the most about the book is the boxes for each dinosaur which says
what their size is (feet, meters, or centimeters), their order (family), their range (where they were found), their pronunciation, and what period they were from. The thing I didn't like about the book was that some of the pictures looked plain and some looked to colorful.
Who would you recommend it to, and why? My brother Patrick because he loves dinosaurs and he has a lot of books about dinosaurs. Also he knows so much about them.
It sounds very interesting. How long did it take for you to read it????
DeleteThanks! It took me about a month to read it.

DeleteBook title: Sparky
ReplyDeleteAuthor: Beverly Gherman
Number of pages:115
Genre: Biography
Main character(s):Charles Schulz / Sparky
Setting: Minnesota, California
Summary-
The theme of this story is about the life of Charles Schulz.
Review-
I liked this book because it is about the cartoonist that created the peanuts.

Summary/review
It's started with a young boy in Texas John Schwartz, and he is relatively
short. He goes thru life learning as he goes. But he is small and gets bullied a
lot and that allowed him to think about how he is at a loss and it's just unfair
yet he later learns that it's just a setback. He later grows up into a professional
journalist and has a family of his own. He wrote this book to tell everybody
about his endeavors of being small. He tells us the do’s and the don'ts about
being small with some interesting story of his personal relationships and
bullies. And the theme would have to be that he is trying to teach you the ins
and outs of being short and some of the things you may encounter. My review
is simple, it is a good book to read and learn about growth and knowledge
about growth. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys lots of facts
in their book!

DeleteBook Title: How Angel Peterson got his Name
ReplyDeleteAuthor: Gary Paulsen
Who would you recommend it to, and why?)
I loved the book because Gary and his friends are all around thirteen and fourteen like me and they did so many crazy, stupid stunts that they made me want to do.
Then he looked up at me and in a plaintive little puppy dog voice he asked:
“Wasn't I wearing shoes when we came?”
I liked the overall being a teenager part of the story because as a teenager you start caring about different things such as how you look, how fit you are, and deeper emotions than you would have felt or cared about when you were younger.
Who would you recommend this to.
DeleteKaleb,
DeleteI would recommend this book to boys who are twelve and thirteen years old because it has mature content and teenage life problems that younger kids wouldn't really understand as much. And I also recommend it to boys twelve and thirteen especially because in the book it says that it’s for boys who are thirteen.
“This book is dedicated to all boys in their thirteenth year: the miracle is that we live through it.” Page#: no number.

ReplyDeleteAuthor: James L. Swanson

Genre: non fiction
Review:
I thought the book was full of many, many facts.
I think I will read this maybe we should switch because I'm doing Martin Luther King Jr.
DeleteTitle:The Barmy British Empire
ReplyDeleteAuthor:Terry Deary
Pages:127
Genre:Informational
Main Characters:British men
Setting: Asia, Africa, North America

So this is a story about a man named Martin Luther King Jr and his 10 days till his life ended by getting assassinated. When he died It was such a awful moment in history just like many others but he got murdered on his balcony by getting shot. He was born on January 15, 1929 and he died on April 4,1968 in Memphis Tennessee. He was always a great man and making the best speeches. He was a great man anyway this book talks about one thing at a time so they talk about one day then another then another.

Summary-This book was about a young girl who's name is Anne,Anne Frank actually when she goes into hiding with her family, the Van Winkles, and a dentist,Anne calls it the secret anexx. When they got found they were sent off to a concentration camp where the woman and men had to work including kids.they had to get transferred to a different camp where the nazi tricked the people who went in the cars.Later … something tragic happened Anne frank, her family, and the van winkles all died except for Anne's father Otto Frank. But… later Meip one of the franks most dearest friend turned in Anne's diary and Anne's diary got published

DeleteHow did Anne Frank, her family, and the van "Winkles" die and I loved in your review how you told about the book but not giving it away.

Summary
This book was about one of the best baseball players of all time.
Review:
I liked this book a lot it had a lot of interesting and scary and bad things happen.
I liked this because Hunter and I have a grate grate Grampy that is in it and it famous.
