    Review
I liked the book. It was very very sad though. It was slow at times, but it managed to keep my interest. There were many moments that were I was fascinated by what Anne had written. She was very literate for her age, and that was very sad because she left the world at a very young age and never really got to experience life. I didn’t have a favorite part, because it was all very sad and depressing. I would recommend this book to people who are interested in the holocaust or are studying it because it not only gives a good point of view of the holuacst, but it also has great information on the war.

  2. Name of Book: Bad Boy

    Author: Walter Dean Myers

    Number of Pages: 206

    Genre: Memoir / Non Fiction

    Main Character(s): Walter Dean Myers

    Setting: Harlem

Recommendations: I recommend this to students in highschool. As it talks about things that highschoolers would probably enjoy reading about. This book is also a little more high school language.

Review: This was one of the most up and down books I’ve ever read. But it was such a good book.

    Summary
This book is a memoir about a boy named Walter Dean Myers (The Author). It goes through his first seventeen years of his life. Walter was adopted at a young age by his fathers (first) wife. He name was Florence.

Walter had many troubles at the start of school. Even though he was a very good reader. Mainly because of his speech impediment that he has. Teachers recognized how good he was and wanted to help him.

Slowly his life went a little downhill. As he went into some type of depression. And as the book refers to (Bad Boy), the story begins to have multiple bad things happen. Like gangs and drugs. Like one part in the book when Walter was reading a book and relaxing. But a neighborhood gang came along to threaten him knifes. Telling him to stay there, because one of the gang members were going to get a gun. I thought it was interesting seeing how much his life went downhill.

Setting Germany the Netherlands and World War 2
Summary: Anne Frank was a girl who was born on June 12, 1929 in the city of Frankfurt, Germany. Her family moved to Amsterdam. Her and family were Jewish. A man named Adolf Hitler became in control of Germany and wanted to kill all Jews and anyone who was not like him. Anne lives with her family, her older sister, dad and mom. WWII broke out and Hitler started invading other countries. In 1940 Hitler invaded Amsterdam. The Jews had to shut down their businesses. Jewish people couldn't go to the movies, couldn't make movies or be authors. There were random attacks on Jewish people. People started being sent to concentration camps. A concentration camp is where Jews would go to work for no money, they couldn't leave, they were not fed a lot of the time and many died.
Anne and her family had to move into a secret annex. They moved there so they did not have to be sent to concentration camps. If they were caught hiding they could be killed. Other Jewish people started moving it to hide as well. They had close friends who were not Jewish and risked their lives to help Anne’s family get food and supplies. They did this because they respected them as friend and thought what was happening was wrong. Anne was keeping a diary about how her life was going as a Jewish person during this time. Anne and her family were in the annex for two years. Someone told on Anne and her family and they were found. They were sent to concentration camps and Anne died of sickness. Her dream was to be a published author and that is just what happened. Her journal was found and published.
Your Review I would recommend this book to people who like to learn about the Holacost. To people who went to learn about people who survived and died in the Holacost. I’m favorite part of the book was when then did what her sis to go a concentration camp so they went to the annex and hide. My least favorite part was when they got found after two years in the Annnex. I would recommend this book to 6 grade and up

  5. Title: Three Cups of Tea
    Author: Greg Morteson
    Number of Pages: 152
    Genre: Narrative Nonfiction
Main Characters: Greg and Haji Ali
Setting: Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the U.S.
Summary: This is a story about a man named Greg. He started on a journey to climb to the top of K2. But unfortunately, he got lost. He was lost for many days without a lot of food or water. But luckily he was found by his trail guide. But then….. he got lost for a second time. He stumbled upon the village of Korphe. There he found children without a school to learn in. So he decided to raise money and build them a school. He spent so much time and effort. He went and spoke to many people in the U.S. One day, a man named Jean Horeni, sent Greg a check for $12,000. That was just what he needed to build the school and bridge.

After his excursions to Korphe, Greg decided to see if he could help other towns and villages. But Haji Ali warned him never to go somewhere alone. He should always go somewhere where he knew people. But Greg did not listen. He went to a village that he did not know very much about. There, Greg got kidnapped by strange men. He was held somewhere secret for 10 days. Luckily, the men holding him released him so he could build more schools. Soon after, he finished his school in Korphe. He went home and visited Jean Hoerni. Before he died, Jean donated $1M to the Central Asia Institute. He traveled around speaking to many people about his organization and what they did. He ended up raising so much money. So he went around Pakistan offering to build schools in many places. I think the theme is to be kind to others

Review: I really liked the book. It was not a dry, boring book and it was about something that was good for the people in Pakistan and Afghanistan. My favorite part was when Greg got kidnapped. I liked how kind and inspiring Greg was. I would recommend this to 6th graders and up, because it isn’t too hard to read, but there is a bit of violence in it and some stuff younger kids wouldn’t get.

  6. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
    By: J.K Rowling

    Number of Pages: 734
    Genre: Fantasy
Main Characters: Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger.
Setting: Europe, Hogwarts, Hogsmeade, the Quidditch World Cup, the Burrow.
Summary: Harry stays at the Burrow, and goes to the Quidditch World Cup with the Weasleys and Hermione. At the World Cup a death eater casts a spell that conjures the Dark Mark. Hogwarts hosts the Triwizard Tournament; one student from each school ( Hogwarts, Beauxbatons, and Durmstrang) is chosen to compete in three magical tasks. The tournament was started seven hundred years ago, but was discontinued. The ministry made a rule that says that only students who are over the age of seventeen (of age) may enter their names to compete in the tournament. Harry is 14, for the people who have sadly not read Harry Potter. He is chosen as the fourth champion. The reason that the tournament was discontinued was because the death toll mounted so high.”
    Review
Harry Potter is my favorite series. My favorite part of this book was the Yule Ball, and when Hermione tells off Rita Skeeter. Rita is a horrible person who lies about everything. My least favorite part is something terrible that happened toward the end of the book. I wouldn’t recommend this book to anyone in this class because they have either already read it or they wouldn’t appreciate it.

Book Title: The Reason I Jump
    Author: Naoki Higashida.
    Number of Pages:135.
    Genre: Memoir.
    Main Characters: Naoki.
    Setting: His inner thoughts.
Summary: This book is about Naoki Higashida. He is a thirteen year old boy with autism. Throughout the book he shares his inner thoughts and answers some of the most asked questions about having autism is like. He does this by using an “alphabet grid” something his mom invented. It makes it possible for him to form words by simply pointing to letters instead of having to write them one by one.
Some examples of questions he asks are, “Why do people with autism talk so loudly and weird?”, “Why don’t you make eye contact when you’re talking?” And “Do you have a sense of time?”. He answered all the questions very thoroughly by making sure to explain it in detail to help educate other people about how it is really like to have autism.
Your Review (How did you like the book, and why? What was your favorite part? What did you like the most/the least about this book? Who would you recommend it to, and why?).
I liked this book. My favorite part was when he would explain what it’s like to look through his eyes. I didn’t like when he would be sad and explain how he is suffering. I thought it was very interesting to see how he and some other people with autism felt. He did a very good job explaining. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn something new and expand their vision of what it’s like to be a human. I would also recommend it to Willis, Ally, Abe and Quintin because they expressed an interest in it.
